Sophisticated Spanish
This young family requested a white Spanish-style home with modern interiors and cool, soothing colors that invoke the feel of a luxury hotel. We chose a palette of cool tans and blue-grays and wove contemporary fireplaces and artwork with traditional details and furnishings to create a relaxing haven for the parents. Because the home had to function for the whole family, we left spaces open for the children’s creative play.
An Artful Home
This artful custom-built home needed updating to be as contemporary as its owners’ lifestyle. The sunken family room, which leads to a sunny patio, had originally housed a large entertainment unit and free-form concrete fireplace. For this remodel, we infused the room with sophistication and personality, with a new, slim, wall-mount TV, a fireplace faced in metal with patina, and elegant, custom-designed furniture. Natural maple trim flows the room seamlessly into the adjacent natural maple kitchen.
Japanese Hospitality
The owners of this Palos Verdes home wanted a traditional Japanese guest suite. The suite serves as a place to relax and reflect, and as a haven for houseguests to experience Japanese-style hospitality. The table accommodates a group dinner, and traditional bedding is stored in the oshiire behind the sliding fusuma doors. A garden and pool beyond the shoji doors completes the experience.
